Global Economic Summit 2018 in New Delhi attended by representatives of Western Pomerania
Potential Indian investment to Western Pomerania, entry of the Szczecin-based company on the Indian market and the invitation of Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple, to visit Poland and Szczecin are just some of the results of the participation of the West Pomeranian Indian Chamber of Commerce and the Marshal of the Western Pomerania Province in the Global Economic Summit in New Delhi.
The Global Economic Summit in New Delhi is the largest and the most prestigious event of the type in entire south-east Asia. The India’s capital attracted over 30 heads of state, including the Prime Minister of India himself. The discussion on the New Economy attracted representatives of the largest global corporations, such as Oracle, Netflix and others. Some of the stars of the summit included Donald Trump Jr., the son of the US president, and Steve Wozniak, the co-founder of Apple.
Mariusz Łuszczewski, the President of the West Pomeranian Indian Chamber of Commerce, and Olgierd Geblewicz, the Marshal of the Western Pomerania Province, participated in the panel discussion of the Summit on ‘Path to Economic Growth through Support to Business’.
‘I am very glad that on such a short notice we managed to arrange the participation of the Polish delegation in the Asian equivalent of the Davos Forum’, said Mariusz Łuszczewski, the President of the West Pomeranian Indian Chamber of Commerce. Due to the involvement of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a personal contribution of Ambassador Adam Burakowski, support of Mr. Takhi, Charge d’affaires from the Indian Embassy, and Andrzej Sadowski representing the Adam Smith Centre, our delegation headed by Marshal Olgierd Geblewicz was able to meet all goals planned. Our participation in the panel focusing on eliminating barriers to economic growth was noted which resulted in a number of important talks on prospective business cooperation. More importantly, we returned back to Poland with solid results.
The Summit was an opportunity to trigger interest among Indian companies in investing in Western Pomerania. Indian businesses are interested in such locations as Szczecin and Goleniów.
‘It is my second visit to the beautiful region of Western Pomerania. And again, the West Pomeranian Indian Chamber of Commerce, established two months ago, delivered more than they promised. The Western Pomerania Province made a good impression and Poland was very well represented. Our companies have already invested in Poland $3 bn and employ 25 thousand people. Who knows, maybe those figures will soon grow, said Mr. Surendra Velagaleti, the First Secretary at the Embassy of the Republic of India to Poland.
During the visit of the Polish delegation to India, a meeting was held between the Indian Minister of Rail and a representative of Szczecin-based Autocomp Management. The company, known for its innovative simulators, plans to participate in a public procurement involving the supply of 14 simulators for the Indian Rail.
‘Autocomp has never been afraid of challenges. India offers a completely different scale, instead of 4 pieces their usually order 100. We have just established our branch in India shortly after we have almost completed a simulator ordered by the Marshal for the Polish regional rail’, said Stanisław Parczewski, the CEO of Autocomp Management.
The Szczecin-based company also considers moving a part of its production to India. In the opinion of companies, the access to the Indian market should result in an increased production.
